England used to relish playing in front of a home crowd under Sarina Wiegman, but it is starting to feel like that magic is wearing off.

Defeat against France, their first loss in a qualifying fixture for 22 years, leaves them with work to do if they want to retain their European crown in Switzerland next year.

Only the top two teams will progress automatically from what is a tough Euro 2025 qualifying group, with England now in third place.

They now have to travel to France, who they play again on Tuesday, before facing Ireland at home and Sweden away in July.

Perhaps what is most concerning for Wiegman is that her side has taken just one point from their two home fixtures.

The Lionesses lacked a spark and, in truth, many looked tired after a testing season. Elisa De Almeida’s superb volley, which brought France level after Beth Mead had opened the scoring, was undoubtedly the best moment of a game lacking quality.

‘The result is disappointing and I think unnecessary,’ Wiegman said.

‘I think our performance was good for most parts of the game. The first part of course was very different than [what] we were expecting, so we had to find our feet to get started. After that we did well, we scored a goal, I think we had chances of scoring more, and then they scored from a corner. That was disappointing.

‘Then in the second half, I think we controlled the match more than we did in the first half. But we didn't score, we created almost no chances, so it's that pass that will create the best chance, or the touch, or the cross, in many moments we played pretty well but it's very frustrating that we then conceded a goal from a corner [set-piece], we know they're very good at that, so we wanted to do that [defend set pieces] very well, and in some moments we did but in too many moments we didn't.’

For the first time since February 2023, Wiegman was able to select a centre-back pairing of Leah Williamson and Millie Bright, with both players having spent time out injured in the last year.

But the decision not to select Alex Greenwood, who has enjoyed a fine season with Manchester City, at either center-back or left-back was puzzling.

Greenwood was arguably England’s best player at the World Cup last summer and her composure on the ball and passing ability was missed.

Things got off to a bad start for England when Mary Earps was forced off after just five minutes.

The goalkeeper, who was making her 50th international appearance, appeared to twist her hip after a routine pass and despite efforts to continue, was replaced by Hannah Hampton.

After a cagey opening, Ella Toone could have put England ahead mid-way through the half when she connected with Lauren Hemp’s cross in the box, but her effort spun just wide.

Hemp continued to cause problems down the left wing and, on the half-hour mark, created the opener. Footage from inside the troubled Co-op Live Arena in Manchester shows the moment thousands of Nicki Minaj fans were told the singer would not be performing after her arrest in Amsterdam.<br/><br/>Ticketholders were allowed into the venue despite the 41-year-old star being detained at Schiphol Airport on suspicion of possessing soft drugs. She was fined and released from custody a few hours later. <br/><br/>Footage from inside Co-op Live, which is the UK's biggest indoor arena with a capacity of 23,500, showed fans waiting patiently for the star to arrive - despite seemingly receiving no updates on her whereabouts.<br/><br/>When an announcement was finally made, fans were heard booing and shouting in disbelief, with organizers saying they were 'deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused'. <br/><br/>It is just the latest problem to hit the £365 million arena, which belatedly opened this month after being plagued by setbacks - with disgruntled music fans now labeling the venue 'cursed'.<br/><br/>One fan told MailOnline that she was 'heartbroken' at Saturday's concert being called off. 'It's not exactly like the tickets were cheap,' said Alesha. 'We spent an absolute fortune to be there tonight, let alone the travel and outfits we got for it.'<br/><br/>'Absolute shambles that the Co-op live didn't just let us let us know beforehand that the show was going to be postponed,' she added, a sentiment shared by many other ticketholders.<br/><br/>Kian Young, 23, who had traveled from Scunthorpe, said that he was 'confused as to why the Co-op arena hasn't spoken to its fans' and asked why the venue hadn't canceled the event when news emerged of Minaj's arrest.<br/><br/>'Everyone's come - my missus is crying,' he told the BBC. 'Why not tell us it's canceled before bringing us in?'<br/><br/>But others blamed the singer for the chaos. Olivia Gibson from Newcastle said she was now an 'ex-fan' of Minaj. <br/><br/>'I feel appalled. But also, in a way, I'm not shocked,' the 21-year-old said, referring to the singer's track record of running late and saying she should have allowed more time to get to Manchester from Amsterdam.<br/><br/>'It's not the Co-op Live's fault. It's Nicki Minaj's fault,' she added. 'She's just let all her fans down.'<br/><br/>The American singer, known for the songs Starships, Super Bass, and Anaconda, had been due to take to the stage at 6.30 pm, but this was initially pushed back to 7 pm. <br/><br/>Footage emerged of supporters queuing up in the hours before the scheduled gig, chanting 'Free Nicki Minaj' as they held onto hope that the star would be allowed to fly to perform at the Manchester arena.<br/><br/>Fans in the packed venue were devastated when they were informed that the show would not be going ahead, with many slamming the decision.<br/><br/>It comes after the venue postponed its first official show several times after safety concerns. <br/><br/>The opening concert by rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was canceled three times, while shows by bands Take That, Keane, and The Black Keys and comedian Peter Kay were also postponed.

Christmas In Our Hearts | The Story Behind Christmas In Our Hearts<br/><br/>Done with the memes yet? Either way, here's Jose Mari Chan revealing the story behind the most played OPM holiday song in the Philippines. <br/>Let him take you first back to 1988 when the song was thought up.Meet the personalities who got involved as the narrative continues. And well, let him charm you with the rest of the story.<br/><br/>The album, bearing the same name, is Jose Mari Chan's first Christmas album and it will mark its 31st anniversary in November. For decades the song has been a staple on someone's Christmas playlist because of its message — God sending the world His Son, the messianic King Jesus Christ.<br/><br/>But social media happened and picked up speed few years ago; the meme lords were born and the next thing you know, Jose Mari Chan is Mr. Christmas. But maybe the memes are just people's way of saying, 'Wala na bang bago?', and at the same time, they still want to honor the iconic song. Because with its meaningful lines, you can't unlove that song. What do you think?<br/><br/>Jose \
