Weighing in at 6600lbs and boasting a horsepower speed of 5,000, the vehicle was built by Perry Watkins from Buckinghamshire. After a night at the pub with friends, the idea of Oklahoma Willy was born. Perry told FutureStudiosCars: “We sit at the pub and come up with stupid ideas, I’ll then lock myself in the garage for five years and build it.” The owner of Perrywinkle Customs, Perry is no stranger to wild automotive creations. “It’s a bit like riding on top of a firework,” Perry explained. Taking around six years to build, Perry first bought a Rolls Royce Viper 535 jet engine, originally made in 1978. He stripped it down, polishing everything in aluminum, taking about two years to complete. Next, he added the after burner which took another six months work. Finally, he bought the VW pickup which had spent most of its life on a farm in Oklahoma, taking a further three years to finish. This rare and iconic vehicle is a prized possession of Perry, who doesn’t like to do something that has been done before.The top speed for the vehicle is 300mph, although the fastest Perry has gone is 157mph, an experience he describes as “exhilarating” but a “bit hairy”. The original engine sits in place making the vehicle street legal, providing you don’t fire up the jet. Perry describes the power as “one of the most incredible things you can ever experience.”")
_e-bike-trial-for-tenby-and-other-parts-of-pembrokeshire-launched.webp "Residents and visitors to four Pembrokeshire areas - including the seaside town of Tenby - are being invited to get on their bikes following the introduction of an exciting pay as you go E-bike trial.<br/>Thanks to funding of £150,000 from the Swansea Bay and South West Wales Metro programme, as well as Tenby, the trial will run in Haverfordwest, Fishguard andGoodwick for 12 months.<br/>The trial conducted by Pembrokeshire County Council, which starts this month, will see a fleet of E-bikes provided for members of the public to use for commuting, leisure and local activities.<br/>Users will simply be able to collect and leave E-bikes at a handy series of pick-up and drop-off sites around the towns.<br/>E-bikes are a combination of a conventional bike with a motor that take some of the effort out of pedalling for the rider. They cover greater distances in less time and with less effort than conventional cycles.<br/>The aim is to give residents and visitors an alternative method of travel rather than rely upon cars for short trips under 2km.<br/>This will in turn create a healthier and decarbonised Pembrokeshire and help towards National Decarbonisation Targets.<br/>Zipp Mobility will maintain the bikes throughout the trial period, including ensuring batteries are charged and ready to go.<br/>Cllr Rhys Sinnett, Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services said: “The successful application for the Southwest Wales Metro Funding has allowed investment in this exciting and environmentally friendly transport.<br/>“The towns will be involved in a pilot scheme to encourage residents, commuters, and visitors to utilise the electric bikes via a low-cost scheme.<br/>“We hope that if people need to do a short journey they will consider hopping on one of the conveniently placed E-bikes rather than immediately turning to a car.<br/>“If successful it is hoped that the scheme can be extended to other parts of the county”.<br/>Users will need to be over 18 and will access the E-bikes through the Zipp Mobility app via mobile phones. Download the app and register to get ready to ride. Rich has re-modeled the stainless-steel shape of the iconic cars into bizarre and brilliant automotive creations in an ongoing, 14-year series of projects. The projects started after Rich met the car's founder John DeLorean at the Cleveland DeLorean Car Show in 2000 and showed him some of his ideas and sketches. Rich from Chicago, Illinois, built a custom hovercraft using the stainless steel panels of the DeLorean and a hovercraft cushion which allows the DeLorean to float over any surface.")
